'South Australia' locomotive, Edge Hill, Liverpool, mid 1950s.

Photograph by Bishop Eric Treacy of the Jubilee Class 4-6-0 locomotive No 45567 'South Australia' travelling through the Edge Hill cuttings. Treacy learnt that the best times to take photographs at Edge Hill were the brief periods each day when shafts of sunlight penetrated to the bottom of the cuttings. He befriended many of the footplate crews, occasionally persuading them to create special smoke effects for the camera.
